All student-prepared project proposals must include a correlation to the standards that they will help students master. In addition to instructional support, teachers coach students, helping them to make sure that the products they create provide strong evidence of their having learned the material required by the standards. Upon completion, the project is evaluated against the standards originally proposed to be met.

A management system allows students and teachers to collect documentation of learning in an electronic portfolio. Project Foundry, a web-based project and learning management tool, has been implemented at the Accelerated Learning Academy. Project Foundry allows both teachers and students to design projects correlated to learning targets. All coursework at ALA is aligned to the Pennsylvania State Academic Standards. Teachers then use the system to communicate with students; assign products, reflective prompts, and assessments; review work; and rate the students’ level of proficiency in the relevant Academic Standards. Students post their products - providing the evidence of learning - and log their hours worked. All the pieces can then be assembled into a portfolio.

Further, Project Foundry is used to track and document all credits earned and other requirements met to insure each student is eligible for graduation.
